In these bleak times, we should be grateful for Silvio Berlusconi's willingness to provide much-needed levity and entertainment. The story of his encounters with Patrizia D'Addario (above) constitutes a public service:
Frankly, Miss D'Addario should thank Mrs Berlusconi. Resolving "issues" complicating a building project in Bari seems a much better result than being packed off to Brussels and Strasbourg to rot away in the European Parliament...The escort at the centre of a sex scandal involving Silvio Berlusconi has said the Italian prime minister offered her a seat in the European Parliament.Patrizia D'Addario told the BBC the plan was abandoned by his party, People of Freedom, after his wife complained.
He also did not pay her to sleep with him, but instead promised to resolve an issue over a building permit, she said.
The allegations follow the release of audio recordings purportedly of their liaison in his official Rome residence.Mr Berlusconi has not denied that Ms D'Addario attended a party at the Palazzo Grazioli, but insists he did not pay for sex.

"Let us now praise famous men..."
Silvio Berlusconi. He's seventy-three, you know.
"I'm seventy-three, you know. But I can still pull."
I bet his parties are great.

It's not 'that' you pull, it's what you pull.

And he knows how to have some fun.
Can I be involved in an Italian sex scandal too, please? It sounds ever so exciting. It's been years since I did anything remotely scandalous, and I'm beginning to miss the thrill. How do you get invited to one of his parties? Do you ring him up? I fancy a night at the Palazzo Grazioli. Can you book a table? Do they do a spaghetti carbonara?
I expect he knows a lot about enjoying himself, does Mr Berlusconi...*sighs*

Oh well, I suppose it's back to the cheese on toast...Peasant! Dog! *throws cutlery into the washing-up bowl*

August 1st, 2009 2:39pm Report this commentI see you've joined the Daily Mail and Telegraph editors in thanking Berlusconi for this story (although they didn't do it out loud) - it must seem like a such a long time for them till they can plaster their front pages with as many fresh-faced, attractive young A-level recipients as they can wedge in. Have they EVER pictured a bloke, can anyone remember?

Hopefully, there is someone else present at the time.
