Sorry, but there is no story here. "Truck dealer offers free gift with every sale during the biggest recession the car industry has ever seen" is a real dog-bites-man case. If you are trying to make an issue of the fact that the gift is a firearm, then try to make your case. Don't just assume the rest of us have some prejudice against gun ownership.

Is this story supposed to elicit some outrage or shock ? Many people in the US own firearms--when I lived there, I had them too, and I felt comfortable with them being an ex-paratrooper.

Perhaps we should reserve our outrage for a system like ours, where only criminals and the state have firearms and the citizens are expected to accept being victims and place their faith in a judiciary that permits violent offenders to carry out community service because the government refuses to build more prisons and places the rights of criminals over and above the safety of the people.
