The Boss Turns 60

Friday, 25th September 2009

Somehow or other I missed the 60th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen's birth this week. The Boss turned 60 on Wednesday and if that seems oddly perturbing then, I suppose, at least it's not as cor-blimey a thought as realising that Martin Amis celebrated his 60th birthday last month. Aye, the times are racing on right enough.

So, by way of belated thanks, here's the great man performing Mansion on the Hill, from his wondrous trip along the darker roads of Americana, Nebraska.

Bruce has no more business being 60 than I do being 52. Once upon a time I was 17 and he was 25 and I now realise that that Hammersmith Odeon concert was one of the best three hours of my life. Perhaps some might think that a little sad, but to hell with them. Many Happy Returns Boss.

The Boss is the Boss because he never stops practicing:

This is LOL funny.

BTW Nebraska is his finest album IMHO but you should have picked Atlantic City.
