No matter what you think of global warming, I think this qualifies as chutzpah:
Good luck with that.Saudi Arabia is trying to enlist other oil-producing countries to support a provocative idea: if wealthy countries reduce their oil consumption to combat global warming, they should pay compensation to oil producers.

October 14th, 2009 8:00am Report this commentRemember that OPEC adjusts the oil price according to demand. If we start using less oil, expect OPEC to stick the price up so that the overall costs stays where it is.
Green technology and renewables are the Arabs' worst nightmare. What comes out of the middle east other than oil and violence? If we stop paying for oil then the other export is not exactly a big revenue earner.
