Can I ask whether you think that if there is a Republican sweep, whether or not that is an indictement of Obama, of Pelosi or none of the above.

November 3rd, 2009 5:13pm Report this commentCabbie, it can't be a republican sweep, since their candidate threw in with the dems. How did she get selected? Who thinks it a good idea to choose between two candidates with identical policies? Not the public, apparently.

Fair point. Oops!

November 3rd, 2009 5:54pm Report this commentI have a copy of Rupert Murdoch's flagship publication from the day after the election in which the Wall Street Journal coyly asserts: "Obama on Verge of Historic Victory."
You'd think someone could have shouted "Stop the presses!"

The answer is pretty obviously none of the above. These are off-year elections where local conditions apply. If there is any loser it has to be a Republican party which has now lost control of its selection process to the point where a Spector or a Scozzafava is deemed unacceptable to the parties (dying) base.

So you think it of no import that independents who to much acclaim supported Obama strongly have within the space of a year abandoned the Democrats in droves?
63% of independents for McDonnell in Virginia
Christie leads Corzine 52-29 amongst indies in NJ
Hoffman leads 52-30 amongst indies in NY-23
Note i said "abandoned the Democrats". I don't think this is a pro-GOP vote on their part, but it is definitely a rejection of the Democrats and that means either Obama or Pelosi (or both). This will be the big story of the night.
