The World's First Suicide-Bomber Comedy

Friday, 22nd January 2010

I think Chris Morris's new film Four Lions is probably the (English-speaking) world's first suicide-bomber comedy. So it's all but guaranteed to offend just about everyone. Splendid. Doubtless it's a sign of terrible, even craven decadence to admit to looking forward to seeing it... Here's a clip, anyway:

well the clip is cringingly bad.

I expect the film will be witless grovelling to jihadis. No fatwa will follow that's for certain.

Thank god someone's had the guts to do it, I can't see it showing on the beeb too soon though...

Not quite the same, but search Youtube for Jeff Dunham and Achmed the Dead Terrorist (no affiliation etc etc, but he is properly funny)

I LOVE Chris Morris. Brass Eye was brilliant TV unrivaled by anything since. As a student I even used to leave the pub early to go home and listen to his supremely weird radio show Blue Jam.

Much as I didn't want it to, it made me smile. Go on then yes. I laughed.

Made me laugh. Will there be a scene where somebody sets fire to their balls?

ed Inacey - "witless grovelling to Jihadis". What on earth gives you that impression. It was openly poking fun at them. Apparently there's another scene where they attempt carry out an attack while dressed as muppets. I can't wait.

There's an ancient movie - comedy or semi-comedy - in which Michael Caine is an IRA terrorist.

Long before such horrors as the Birmingham bombing of course.

I've just finished reading a hilarious book about a suicide bomber - Karl & the Prankster God.
The main characters are a suicide bomber, God, the Devil, with a cameo appearance by Jerry Springer, some people are bound to get upset - I thought it was genuis!
