I quite agree. This sort of nonsense takes column inches away from all those important pieces about Obama and his family, his wife's clothes sense, his dog, where he goes on holiday, his attenpts at surfing etc. Now that's real news - apparently.

I'm neither a republican or a royalist: both having Charlie Boy as head of state, or replacing him with an elected President sound bad to me. What about a compromise? We'll have a revolution -- lets call it GRII -- and force him to flee to America, where he'll be loved as all monarchs are, and replace him with Good King Will.

I'm with Conservative Cabbie all the way on this story. Turning a non-event into a 100-word piece is utterly crap journalism - although I don't expect much from a rag that publishes the thoughts of Chairman Mel on a regular basis.

I think the British media pays far too much attention to the comings and goings in the United States. But then I also think American public television pays far too much attention to the British Royal Family.

Surely there is a different message to be picked up from this? The importance of cleaning up litter has penetrated to the highest in the land - elected or unelected.

In America, an elected h-of-s inspired a whole movement, without actually having to pick up trash: Litter Free Inauguration 2009:

"Litter Free Inauguration was conceived by a group of young people inspired by Barack Obama's message of change. Through a new media campaign we will spread this idea to all Inaugural attendees, and keep our National Mall clean. This is a new era for civic participation and personal responsibility, and we hope this is just the beginning."

Litter Free have their own website. No need anymore for newspapers whose writing style distracts some from appreciating the truth.
