The Latest Insidious Threat to the American Republic

Monday, 17th May 2010

Beautiful muslim women. Verily. According to the increasingly-ridiculous Daniel Pipes, Rima Fakih's triumph in this year's Miss USA beauty pageant is yet another dismal example of affirmative action. This is what that "affirmative action" looks like:

Terrible, you'll agree. Not that Pipes is alone in complaining about this. Someone called Debbie Schlussel says "Hizbollah is laughing at us" and puts Donald Trump  - the absurdity whose organisation runs the contest - on the ever-lengthening list of "Dhimmi" fools aiding and abetting the destruction of the United States and the western world. For reals.

As for Pipes and his claim that muslim women are all the rage in beauty contests, well that's actually more likely to represent a certain triumph of the west as more muslim women are confident enough to enter these pageants. In one sense then, this represents a form of emancipation or at least cultural assimilation that might be thought useful (in as much as such contests can ever be considered useful).

Nevertheless, one can never be too careful. Miss USA today but soon one of these people is going to become the first Muslim President of the United States of America. Oh, hang on...

Spectator readers are a broad church so you may be able to answer this: has the Sun featured muslim Page Three Girls yet? I assume so, right?

UPDATE: As is often the case in such matters Dan Drezner - now a Spectator contributor I'm pleased to see - has wise things to say on this.

Wow!

Forget the evening gown and swimwear sections, I can't wait to this babe in a burqua.

Above all, it reminds one that Muslim women are indeed WOMEN - with all the brains and beauty that Allah has bestowed upon them.

What a tragedy that some muslim males can't handle that and use an extreme interpretation of the Koran as an excuse to hide them away from the world and turn them into non-persons.

Hahahahahaha..... LOL!!! This idiot from The American Spectator thinks that America would disappear if a Muslim woman wins the Ms. America pageant. I guess it is Armageddon from here on out. What a fool you are! This tells me how much you understand America. A majority of American women wouldn't care less what happens to the Miss or Ms. America organization. I am certain they will rally with the rest of their fellow citizens if the country they love so much is under a real threat; not one like your feeble mind conjures up.

Alex, you of course right, but in another sense you falling into the same trap as the Schlussels what with the emancipation, assimilation and stuff. Women, all women, gorgeous or ugly, and many men like to indulge in exhibitionism, you know, showing off what nature gifted them with (or not). And here, they get paid for it handsomely, too.

John Paul Telhomme @ 12.33:

Slow down my friend, a longish cold shower, a cup of coffee will calm you down. What’s this rallying stuff about, ha? It’s just a beauty contest.

She is beautiful and worthy of the title. Let the bigots yell and scream all they want. She deserves the title and it's good for America.

We don't have to wait for a Muslim president, we already have one in B. Hussein Obama. I guess the writer forgot that part.

A lovely women and excellent choice to represent the US. The negative posts reflect the underbelly and armpit of our unfortunate citizens.
