Mike Huckabee just formally ceded the Republican nomination to John McCain. After tonight’s results, John McCain has the 1,191 delegates he needs to win the nomination. Tomorrow, he will head to the White House to receive President Bush’s endorsement.
Whoever the Democrats nominate, McCain will be a formidable general election candidate. The story of his recovery from presumed political death is one for the ages.

March 5th, 2008 4:31pmHaving won 70 percent of the vote in his congressional district yesterday, Ron Paul will undoubtably be returning his attention to his presidential candidacy. In the presidential race it seems that Ron Paul has over 6 million dollars cash in hand while McCain has 5 million dollars cash in hand and a 5 million dollar debt. http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/index.asp?cycle=2008 Ron Paul has previously stated that he will maintain his candidacy as long as people keep sending him money. Since he was not allowed to spend money from the presidential race on defending his congressional district he asked his supporters to help his congressional campaign. He raised over 1 million dollars in less than one month and won by a landslide. It is quite clear that neither he nor his supporters are ready to quit yet. In any case the Republicans won't officially nominate their candidate until early September at the GOP's national convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
