Hackney features heavily on my blog London Shop Fronts. I have spent a lot of time there.

I’ve lived in Hackney for around eight years and seen big changes and big developments, from it being branded ‘the murder mile’ to the ‘coolest place in Britain’. This set of photos shows some shop fronts from around Hackney over the past few years – including the now sadly gone Savoy Cafe that was stuck in a time warp from 1940s to 2010 (more photos of that here ); This-N-That, the shop full of random items on Hackney’s Well Street Market, made famous by Jack Cohen; and Stoke Newington’s Sellfridges, which sells ... ahem … fridges
