Fantastic! Every word of every book, letter, note and diary entry that Evelyn Waugh wrote is to be reprinted by the Oxford University Press, the Londoner’s Diary reports.
This news should not be exciting. Doubtless the volumes will be extortionate and besides, Waugh has never been out of print. But I am excited; the prospect of giving soulless e-books the finger with 47 volumes identical in appearance is alluring. In the unlikely event that you experienced a similar reaction, it’s best not to hold your breath in anticipation – the project will take 15 years to complete.

My bookcases are filled with most of his works, although "Helena" is missing and some of his short stories. I have his Diaries, and works by his children and grandchildren. Coming back from a wet day where a large book chain store couldn't help me, I feel as though there is still hope. A metaphorical rainbow has appeared illuminating the afternoon for me, with golden motes floating amid the grey dust overhead. Waugh and Peace for ever.
