Stephen & the golliwogs
Having just read Stephen's post - which has attracted no end of chortling from the junior wing of the Monday Club - I'm more glad than ever than I switched off the comments facility on this blog. There's only so much time you want to spend cleaning the graffitti in the bathroom. No, children's dolls aren't the most pressing issue in the world, but the feedback is a reminder of how far we lag behind America's bloggers in some respects. When it comes to race, anyway, a lot of readers in this country still seem to be stuck in 1958 or thereabouts.
