My wife, who spends a lot more time commuting than I do, tells me the sort of anti-social behaviour I referred to the other day is so normal that people are resigned to not complaining about it. Hence the pained silence in my carriage when I asked the idiot with the mobile to turn the music down. I guess she's right. I half-suspected as much at the time.
Ah, remember the days when this sort of thing was a good source of comedy? Yes, I admit it, I am a Norman Wisdom fan. The films are sloppy, of course, but he was a terrific clown. I still laugh at this scene, although nowadays I'm really the stout middle-aged man who's trying to get on with reading his newspaper.
