Against Jamie Oliver

Thursday, 9th October 2008

Sorry, I can't agree with this attack on the footloose chef. (His swearing is irritating and juvenile, but that's another matter.) What's wrong with teaching the basics of nutrition to a mother whose family lives on take-away kebabs? Besides,  the programme isn't just about ogling the poor, as the article claims. One of the stars of the last instalment was the miner who lived in a pretty, well-furnished house but had never had a chance to pick up a frying-pan. By the end of the show he was a different man. And Oliver had been humbled by the experience of spending a couple of hours at the coal-face.
