"Kind of Blue" at 50

Monday, 27th October 2008

The greatest jazz album of them all reaches its half-century in a few months' time (just before I do, in fact.)  An anniversary package - already on release - is full of small treasures. I was about twenty when I first heard the record, and still in a daze after hearing Miles's classic recording of "Porgy & Bess" on an LP purchased at a jumble sale for about 50 pence. "Kind of Blue" took me onto Cloud Ten.
