Good to see the music blog On An Overgrown Path getting a name-check in the NY Times. It's all to do with the secrets of fifth symphonies.
Elsewhere on the classical front, Norman Lebrecht has written a distinctly double-edged farewell to those elder statesman of the piano, Brendel and Ashkenazy. Brendel gives his final recital next month; Ashkenazy has given up playing due to degenerative bone disease. Lebrecht will miss them, but only up to a point, apparently.
