An e-mail response to my thoughts on Toby Young's item about the "skinny white guy with a tan":
I've got to admire your restraint in the face of the extreme provocation of that Toby Young article about Obama not being "black". It's gobsmacking, unbelieveable shit. Perhaps you have to admire him for managing to blend racism, ignorance, anti-Americanism with the usual middle-class snobbery so completely. What a waste of space that man is. His "Aren't I social disaster?" schtick doesn't make you laugh; it just makes you think "Yes, you're right, you are. Now please go away."
