Two special voices

Sunday, 9th November 2008

Curtis Stigers, a singer I'm constantly raving about, turned up in unorthodox guise on today's Andrew Marr show, discussing the election alongside US ambassador Robert Tuttle. It wasn't an example of dumbing-down: Stigers knows his stuff. (I'm sure Tuttle is a decent guy, but it would make a pleasant change to have someone more dynamic and charismatic in the job when the new broom comes in.)

I also want to alert music lovers to the fact that the magnificent Concha Buika, doyenne of so-called New Flamenco, will be playing in London later this month. I have a feature about her in today's Sunday Times. While "Mi niña Lola" is a song I've posted before, it definitely deserves a re-run.
