Slate is looking into the key elements of life-hacking. First up, some suggestions on how to negotiate those tricky hours after your brain begins to stir again:

Writers, no surprise, have a lot to say about this. Edith Wharton set a fine example at her home, the Mount. Her maid would bring her breakfast in bed, and she would spend the morning writing. (In general, servants are a big help with this lifehacking stuff.)
That's the way to do it. I can't imagine Ms Wharton logging onto Fail Blog, but I find it can raise the spirits when inspiration begins to falter.
