People imagined that he could do whatever he liked, but he knew more disappointments than others cared to count. He had nursed many projects which never, as they say, had legs. Before his Napoleon film was aborted, he had accumulated a library of some twenty thousand photographs of all the locations in which the Emperor had spent even one of his busy days. His intention had been to build the most important ones on the lot in England, but some other movies about Napoleon brought about his Waterloo.
