Ah, how can you not be seduced by that voice? One new album I've been listening to a lot is "Radio Mindelo", a collection of Cesaria Evora's recordings from the Sixties, made long before the Cape Verde singer emerged as a world music star. The sound quality is less than perfect, but you still get a tantalising glimpse of a great talent on tunes such as "Mar Azul". I've also fallen for her CD "Miss Perfumado" all over again. "Angola" is a song I wish I'd added to my New Year's Eve party dance list. I can't stop playing it now.
