The Prince and the P-word

Monday, 12th January 2009

Unlike his loony commenters, Iain Dale makes a sensible contribution to the "Paki" debate. Context matters, although I'm sure he's wrong when he suggests that "the PC brigade" may have "hyped up" the interpretation" of the word. It has always been toxic, as far as I know. I say that as someone who's been called a "Paki" (which I'm, er, not) by a thug who spent a good 20 minutes trying to decide whether to punch me as he confronted me on my doorstep. In the end, as I've said before before, he settled for laying waste to my garden gate.

Prince Harry clearly deserves a kick up the backside for using the insult, even if he was joking. On the other hand, PooterGeek suggests some at the Rhamadan Foundation are guilty of double-standards too.
