Much as I respect James's objections to the Gaza fund-raiser, I still don't see the BBC's logic. I didn't feel the scenes of destruction implied the Israelis were trigger-happy, and the commentary, cloying though it may have been, avoided being drawn into the question of who was to blame for causing the conflict. If the Beeb had doubts about whether the aid would be channeled to the people who need it, then I'd understand why the ad was shelved. But to pretend that the appeal somehow compromises the Corporation's impartiality makes no sense.
