One album I can't stop playing at the moment is a vintage set of pre-revolutionary era songs by Carlos Puebla, a troubadour who became a stalwart of the new regime. It's the kind of laid-back music the Buena Vista Social Club went on to champion decades later. The man sitting at the table, by the way, isn't Jack Palance but the owner of the bar where Puebla's trio made this sparkling little record. A disc that's well worth tracking down.
