Tony McNulty, David Davis, Hazel Blears... I have to admit I never thought that three politicians who've always seemed more principled than most would be caught up in the Westminster follies. I did my best to be won over by David Aaronovitch's op-ed about the public's alleged double-standards, but he didn't really convince me in the end. Incidentally, I'd always wondered why so few Labour MPs seemed outraged by the truckloads of money the mayor of London is said to be making from his newspaper column. (See Stephen Glover's media column from last year's Indy.) Now I find myself wondering if it was simply a case of people in state-funded greenhouses not wanting to throw stones.
