Not so neighbourly

Thursday, 14th May 2009

That post about simmering problems on new housing estates prompts an e-mail from a reader who finds himself in a similar situation:

We were told at the time of purchasing that there would be some social housing on our estate but that this was away from our premises. We have now found that 21 properties have now been sold off to a housing association, with a number of these in our street and backing on to our properties. We have complained to the developers, who have dismissed our grievances, pointing out that Government funding for lower-cost housing has played a part in the housing association buying properties that the company could not sell privately.
