Lizz Wright - The Voice
Ever since I heard Lizz Wright's stunning performance in the Nina Simone tribute at the Barbican last week, I've been looking out for a clip that does her justice. This one, taken from an NPR session, comes closest. She's really almost too versatile for her own good. I sometimes think record executives don't know what to do with a singer who can shift so easily from jazz to soul to folk to pop. Which was true of Simone as well, of course.
