The sound of a barrel being scraped

Tuesday, 11th March 2008

"The danger implicit in the phone ad — as I see it — is that the person answering the phone might be a black man, someone who could not be trusted to protect us from this threat..."   Oh please, get a grip. Orlando Patterson has written some sensible stuff in the past, but the idea that Hillary Clinton's team injected a racist sub-text into her 3am advert is pretty far-fetched. The ethnicity of some of the kids in the bedrooms looked suitably ambiguous to me. If Obama's supporters start trying to racialize every other issue that comes up, they'll surely scupper his campaign.

Interesting that Patterson mentioned "The Birth of a Nation", subject of a post yesterday. I honestly can't see a connection with D.W. Griffith and the Klan.
