When Brazil met Sweden in the World Cup final fifty years ago Pele and friends galloped to a 5-2 win. The 50th anniversary match ended in another victory for the South Americans, though only by a goal to nil. While it wasn't a great match, Pato's goal, struck from near the corner flag, just below where we were sitting, was a gem.
But oh dear, it's a nightmare getting out of the Emirates Stadium, isn't it? I'm not sure there's any point having a beautiful, ultra-modern ground if you then have to fight your way through narrow streets and form an endless queue at a battered old Tube station. We waited quite a while after the final whistle before leaving our seats (the guys behind us, being regulars, bailed out ten minutes before the end in order to beat the crush) yet it was still hard work getting to the Holloway Road. In the end, we ignored a police barrier - as did a few other people - and sneaked down a side street to avoid the main bottle-neck. I hate to think what could happen if things ever got out of hand.
