While everyone else is commemorating 1968 and all that, some contrarians argue that the 30th anniversary of the screening of the first episode of "Dallas" is just as important. (I was a big fan up to the point JR was resurrected.) Could it be that the sight of all that Texas glitz convinced the Kremlin it had no chance of winning the Cold War?
