No free speech for idiots, I'm afraid

Wednesday, 7th May 2008

Not on this blog, anyway... My comments about comments prompted one particularly inane response from someone who thinks I'm trying to stop anti-semites having their say. (Which is true enough, although my main problem on this site is with Islamophobes and members of the Enoch Appreciation Society.) Anyway, in the course of his rant, he added this:

Perhaps its a good thing that at last Davis, an appropriately unpleasant thuglike looking Jew should have so openly presented his Dictat in such no nonsense Nazi-like terms We know at last where we stand...

Now, I may look like a thug, but I'm not actually Jewish. (Nor am I a "Paki", although that didn't stop one idiot calling me that on my doorstep just after 9/11.) What really made me laugh was that, a few hours later, when I ran an item sympathetic to the Palestinians, my charming correspondent had the nerve to send another comment, this time making suave but hostile noises about Israelis. As if I would even think about posting it. Now there's a man blessed with the audacity of hope.

A Jew sits down next to a black man reading an Yiddish newspaper on NY subway train.

- 'Are you Jewish?!'

- 'Do I look like I need more tzures than I have?!'
