We have had a ritual in our house for some years which involves shouting "la-la-la" as loudly as possible and searching for the TV remote to change channel as soon as we hear the opening bars of the Eastenders' theme.

For the last year or so the same thing happens if we hear Gordon Brown's voice. In fact we have recently added making a sign of the cross with our fingers just to make sure he doesn't jump out of the screen at us!

I noticed this morning that a well known UK & Ireland news page (no names, no pack drill) has no less than 3 Brown-centric stories on the front page:

"Terror link to Brown death threat"

"Brown's cash boost for athletes"

"Brown hails troops' Olympian efforts"

This constant media pumping of Brown is very sinister and suspicious. Are we going to reach the stage where huge posters of Brown are going to appear, Mao-like, on public buildings? He's certainly got the look - thick-set, lugubrious Cold War soviet dictator who behind the ghastly smile is a thoroughly nasty piece of work.

Is the media being nobbled by the Goebbels clones in Herr Braun's propaganda kompanie or is it just full of conniving Lefties - or both?
