The Obama campaign steps on its own message

James Forsyth 1:17am

Tonight is meant to be all about showing how American and how middle class the Obamas are. So, it is a particularly bad time for the Obama campaign to release an ad attacking attempts to link Obama to William Ayers, an unrepentant former member of the Weather Underground the violent leftists group that bombed the Pentagon among other places back in the Vietnam era.

It is a huge mistake because the Ayers attack was not gaining much traction but now it is getting a lot more play than it otherwise would. The connection, which exists but doesn’t suggest Obama shares his views, is exactly the kind of thing which is not going to play well with those voters still making their mind up about Obama.

Obama didn't know Billy Boy and Hot Bernie in their heyday, but he surely must have known who they were and what they had done when he went into politics in the 90's!
And he certainly knew them on 9/ll, when they must have cheered the attacks and probably felt that it was a tragedy that one plane didn't do enough!
I wonder if Obama, if elected, (heaven forfend!) will appoint Bill and Bernie to any top jobs!
The jig will soon be up!
