A sorry tale

Peter Hoskin 6:29pm

Ok, so it turns out that Brown's article today wasn't an apology of any sort.  But there's still some speculation that he's going to use his conference speech to more or less say "sorry".  With that in mind, the Tories have just launched 'Brown's Big Apology', a corner of their website where - from now until the speech - there'll be daily suggestions of what Brown should apologise for.  The first is the 10p tax debacle.  What would CoffeeHousers add to the list?

Why don't you just dump him. Can't you find a reason to impeach him? Or is David Cameron too frit?

Guaranteed: when Brown goes, Cameron will command a round of applause.

1) His betrayal over Lisbon treaty

2) The gold fiasco

3) Pension Tax Dividends (aka stealing our old age)

4) Tax credits, and seriously overcomplicating a once simple tax system

5) Tax, tax, tax and more tax

6) completely wasting proceeds of 5 through stubbornness and resistance to proper public service reform

7) Not saving for the rainy day

and

8) being the most mendicious, repetitive, deluded bore of a PM we have ever had to endure.

I could go on

That bloody stupid, spiteful and divisive smoker ban would do for a start, and further apologies to the tenants, owners and staff of the 2000+ pubs it's killed.

What's he got to apologise for? Everything is the fault of global pressures that are nothing to do with him!

My favourite?
The EU Referendum Manifesto Promise.

An "I'm sorry" just wouldn't cut it.

Will this appear in the 'Brown's Big Apology' corner?

Pensions destroyed
Armed Services debauched
Gold sale pre-flagged
Blocking Public sector reform
FSA / BoE supervision madness
Debt level off the chart
Spending out of control
The laughable cabinet
Bankrupt Labour party
Violent crime
Failure to build prisons
Failure to build power stations
Failure to build flood defences
Destroying the Union
Sell out to EU
Nanny state
Ed Balls' face
The way he treated Blair
The way he treats his staff
Abject contempt fot you and me

That's 20 items for you each worthy of him being tarred and feathered. It took me 20 seconds to think of them. Brown's a one man disaster. A national embarrassment.

Assuming power without a General Election. There is no mandate for Brown to be PM.

...and not much to be proud about as Chancellor.

I see Brown has just endorsed Obama.

Can he be impeached for endorsing a candidate in a foreign country? Isn't there some way we can get rid of this skin crawler?

And now he puts his name to an article praising Obama thereby appearing to suggest to Americans to vote for the Democrats.Previously he had snubbed Obama when he didnt think he stood a chance. Every thing he touches is a disaster for the UK.Can't anything be done to get him out of No 10 before we become the laughing stock of thw world.

In addition to the above:
(1) changing, ie fiddling, the definition of inflation to make it look lower than it really is;
(2) lumbering us all with huge Enron style, off balance sheet debts via the PFI.
