IPCC naughtiness
2:38pmI'm a little out of step on this climate change thing. I'm generally in agreement that it's happening, that we're causing it, which moves me rather away from my natural home with those who won't believe what any government or bureaucrat tells them, ever. But then again I'm rather insistent in actually peering at the fine details of the proposals to make things better, which puts me at odds with most of those who share that first belief.
This middle of the road position of course leaves me liable to being run over, but it does at least lessen my ire when I find that certain parts of the bureaucracy are indeed lying to us on the matter.
The full details are here.
Simply put, the IPCC report says that lots of people will become water stressed as a result of climate change. Clearly and obviously true. But what they leave out is that another group will become less water stressed as a result of climate change. Indeed, that the second group will be larger than the first (or at least could be) so that the overall effect on water stress of climate change could be positive, not the negative they present it as.
What's worse is that this point is made in the very academic paper that they use as their source.
Perhaps I should be a little angrier than I am at this...but then I expect the bureaucrats to lie to me, as they are.
