Brown revamps his press team

11:15am

Is Damian McBride paying for the shambolic handling of the Ruth Kelly resignation?  The FT are reporting that he'll be replaced by Justin Forsyth as the PM's political and press adviser.  Then again, McBride is to remain as part of the No.10 team, so the influence he wields could still be considerable.

Faceless Bureaucrat

McBride has been wrongly accused here - the now notorious '3am Briefing' was called by McBride because the Evening Standard had got the story on Kelly's impending resignation and were preparing to run with it. McBride had to limit the damage, hence the hastily called Briefing.

Yes, McBride is indeed a 'thirsty fellow' and entitled to have had a few Peronis at the Labour Party Conference. Despite that, he still did what he was paid to do - protect the Government. His treatment today seems somewhat shabby...

"Brown revamps his press team"

Well he certainly isn't repressing his vamps team, but I wouldn't climb over Ann Widdecombe to get to any of Brown's Babes.
