Stephen, you should see how SNL mercilessly lampooned this interview. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler used exactly the same words from the interview. You should put that sketch up as an example of Art imitating Life

Naughty Stephen, you won't be on Melanie Phillips Christmas card list posting things like this.

This says more about the eternal scherzo that is modern jazz than it does about Ms Palin.

Just how it's followers sleep at night after stealing a musical term that originally belonged to the musical genius of Louis Armstrong defeats me.

Expired more like it. Wasn't funny when it was current.

Your heart's not really in this anymore Stephen.

Me got the strangest feeling Sarah Palin didn't care for the bailout much...

Nice One Matthew.

Melanie thinks Sarah's the new Moses.

Which kind of throws all her other views into perspective.

I don't know. Melanie's judgement is so appalling, I wouldn't be sure she wouldn't find it inspirational.

Stephen just discovered your blog. What an oasis of sanity and good humour by comparison.

I rather liked this. It shows how different art and politics are. Each has its own place. As for the "eternal scherzo that is modern jazz," you'd be better off not judging a whole piece by only a minute of playing and, by the way, apostrophes are used to indicate possessives. It should be "its followers," not "it's followers." That jazz has evolved since Louis Armstrong... what should it have done? Regressed? Should we still be doing surgery without anaesthetics? Travelling on mules?
