Brown's election climbdown: one year on

Peter Hoskin 6:27pm

As Mike Smithson points out over at the indispensable Political Betting, it's a year to the day since Gordon Brown called off an Autumn general election in an interview with Andrew Marr.  Watch the footage below to see the moment CoffeeHousers voted as that "where it all went wrong" for our Dear Leader:

Thank God he didn't go for it!

Can you imagine the damage to this county and its people the Great Clunking Ditherer could do with a complete parliamentary cycle under his belt.

As Marlon Brando said in Apocalypse Now..........

"the horror...The H O R R O R !"

The General Election cannot come soon enough.

It is invariably the case that, seen later, any political interview is shown up as precisely what it always properly was: lies, lies, lies and lies.

The best that can be said of McNutter one year on from his statesman-like decision not to call to an election is that he was, as he remains, certifiable.

What have we done to deserve this maniac?

Political betting is utter rubbish. The website politcal betting encourages gambling. The spectator should not give credence to such a shallow website.

Political betting is a pro betting pile of rubbish. It is devious. Written by offensive buffoons like Morus. It is propaganda for the betting industry.

'Dirty Euro' etc. Isn't it wonderful with the left that their only defence when caught out is abuse - no substance or reasoning, obviously no brains either - abuse, every time

"The Horror! The Horror!"? Did "Apocalypse Now" lift that from Conrad's "Heart of Darkness"?

Dirty euro: Just checked that website. Didn't see how it could be any worse than things euro - and I never gamble.

I enjoyed reading it .... very punny! Metaphorically speaking, I bet Mandy Pandy's not reading it, though.

Political betting does less damage to the economy and therefore to the lives of the people in this country than Labour's insane tax and spend policies.

Marr was in good form but I suspect that is because as a good BBC hack he could see that Labour had made huge strategic error, and was pissed off with Gordon.

I cannot stand watching the man speak, but already after minute 4 of the clip, he is giving a good demonstration of the wisdom of the old saying, when you're in a hole stop digging.

Well , at least he was true to his word, that he wanted to get on with change in the country. Its bloody changed alright, for the worse, in Littlejohns words, we are all hiding for hell in a handcart at present. In Europe countries are beggering their neighbours, the elite are just about clinging to the wreckage of the Euro and what remains of the EU.

Darling Brown say they will do "whatever it takes" well if thats the case, go now then and give the country at least a fighting chance to save itself.
