It's not all doom and gloom for the "meeja"

Most media commentators spend their time sounding the death knell, so its nice to hear something upbeat for a change. In the US the revenues of the 100 leading media companies jumped 8% to $287bn in 2006, according to Advertising Age's annual "Media 100" report. Unsurprisingly, internet revenues were responsible, rocketing 22.7%, making the web the fastest-growing revenue source in the industry. For those heretics who still claim the internet is a flash in the pan - and they know who they are - this report offers further proof of just how wrong they are.
