"That one"-gate

Matthew d'Ancona 11:53am

Not great for John McCain to refer to Barack Obama in the second presidential debate as “that one”. And – call me flippant – but I couldn’t help thinking of Andy in Little Britain. The trouble for the Republican candidate is precisely that the American public, like the wheelchair-bound Matt Lucas character, do indeed seem to “want that one”.

It's bad; not the sign of a razor sharp mind. The world desperately needs a world class brain and world class leader for the next 4 years, and neither of them are it.

More than that, both their running mates are more mediocre.

The End is Nigh.

Should've gone with Hillary. Now the world is going to be stuck with an inexperienced hubris: the worst sort.

McCain's grin when he met Obama should have been two inches wider and a bit straighter on the right-hand side. Shows he's a fascist.

McCain's shoulder when he shook hands drooped on the left - proves he's a KKK type.

McCain's hand when he shook Obama's slid away a bit too fat (I time it as 3 seconds too fast) - shows he's a Nazi.

McCain has betrayed his evil.

Let us all now vote for the incomparable Saint Obama the Great.

DB - very very funny. Best laugh of the day - and horribly accurate.

Don't get too sniffy, James. McCain should simply say when challenged, that he does have a pretty low view of his opponent as, only too evidently, did the Clintons as well.

In the next few weeks the McCain campaign should run ads in all the swing states of the McCain family featuring grandad Admiral, dad Admiral, McCain himself and son Marine Jimmy McCain with the slogan "Born to command and born to serve."

If that doesn't get over the message of what a parvenu Obama is by contrast, nothing will.

It's funny, AOL had one of those homepage trivia quizzes today, asking which one of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates had all the following nicknames as a child: "Punk", "Nasty" and "McNasty".

Hint - the last one is the giveaway.

There are countless promotional stickers and T-shirts all over America on which are printed 'You know who I'm voting for? That one (with a finger pointing at Obama). So to say with a pointed finger that an energy bill loaded down with billions for the oil companies, and sponsored by Bush and Cheney, was voted for by 'that one' and not by him, was a clever dig by McCain at Obama's own promotional description of himself. Nix "That one"-gate.

Some of you are so filled with suspicion and bile. Get over it. President Obama will surprise you all. You just wait.
