Gordon wasn't ready for the fight

Fraser Nelson 2:00pm

The Marr-Brown interview made me realise Brown wasn't ready for this election either. His claim that the Tory inheritance tax proposal would have "led to economic disarray" is laughable and would have perished on the doorsteps. Yet, he will--"of course"--look at inheritance tax again (expect him to raise the threshold, copying the Tory policy). He says he does "not accept" that he will take a hit for this fiasco. He'd better not read an opinion poll for the next few weeks, then.

Am I the only one to suspect there has probably been unconstrained mirth in the Blair household in the last 24 hours?

It's galling that this man puts his own selfish interest before that of his country. No chance for a referendum on the revised EU treaty, then.

Excellent, Michael. And in the homes of Service personnel sick of Brown's 10 years of budget cuts. His politico visit to Basra will be remembered as his "Chamberlain back from Munich" moment - exposed as a waste of space.

The real problem is Douglas Alexander like his sister he is overrated in Labour. He Balls and Cooper are not up to the jobs. IDS, yes IDS dismantled Balls on BBC2 in the run up to the DC speech. Cherie must be as happy as if she had won a lottery.

When is Cherie's book coming out? In good time to do maximum damage before the (probable) 2009 election?
