October 21st, 2008 4:05pm Report this commentThe problem with these kind of lists is that you get to see just how devoid of talent the Tory party is.
You've got a man who has previously failed in the position as favourite (which is like Newcastle constantly bringing back Kevin Keegan as manager and expecting different results) and then Boris the Buffoon and the now thoroughly discredited George Osbourne as the next best bets. Beyond that we're into the No Mans Land of Liam 'no not the DJ' Fox and Chris 'who?' Grayling.
I think Call Me Dave is safe for quite some time!
Well, it surprised me

October 21st, 2008 6:41pm Report this commentNever mind the leadership. If Osborne goes who replaces him as Shadow Chancellor: we need a big hitter, someone who can speak to and for ordinary people and someone who can take the fight to Labour, someone with principles and not known as a Europhile. Perhaps even someone called David.....

October 21st, 2008 9:26pm Report this commentThe return of Hague would be highly welcome; he's articulate, learned, devastating in debate and good humoured. David D.,for all his fine qualities, lacks that certain je ne sais quoi.
However, the real secret weapon the Tories need is one Fraser Nelson...

October 21st, 2008 9:30pm Report this commentAs for the alleged present paucity of talent on the Tory benches, let's just remember they've been reduced to not quite a rump for some time but there's plenty of talent out there and all it needs is for the electorate to vote them back in in droves to expand the list. So do it, folks- VOTE TORY!!

October 21st, 2008 11:39pm Report this commentThe odds offered in this market are self-explanatory, viz three prospects & the reast a field of 'tempters'. Hague's already had a pop, Osborne is, effectively, the parliamentary 2nd-in-command & Boris is the only other high-visibility placeman. I wouldn't stick 50p into this swamp...
