Happy Christmas
Peter Hoskin 9:52am
Coffee House will be going a bit quieter over the next couple of days; so just to wish CoffeeHousers a happy Christmas, and to thank you for reading and contributing over the past year.
If you're looking for something to do, I'd recommend this year's Christmas short story in the magazine (here); or you could always suggest a New Year's resolution for David Cameron (here) - we'll be picking out the best on Boxing Day.

December 24th, 2008 10:29am Report this commentI enjoyed the Christmas number of the magazine almost as much as ever, but I particularly anticipate the short story as a seasonal treat and I must say I found this year's offering - a sententious, humourless, quasi-documentary letter from Franz Kafka's father - an arid disappointment. Did anyone else feel the same way?

December 24th, 2008 4:58pm Report this commentMerry Christmas to everyone, even New Labour & Brown. Tomorrow we can cease hostilities, have a game of footie. We can start firing again on Boxing day, but till then, lets give peace a chance, as Winston O`Boogie once said.

December 26th, 2008 9:23am Report this commentWhat hypocritical nonsense. During presidential campaigning, H. Clinton threatened that America could nuke Iran into oblivion. Don't remember much outrage at the Spectator over that.

December 26th, 2008 10:06am Report this commentLet 2009 be the year that the political establishment realises that 651 MP's and their hangers on is an outrageous number of mostly worthless and powerless people being paid by the taxpayer for absolutely no visible or concealed reason.
Now that Brown and his self- serving crew have forced this country back into the dire financial state that Wilson, Healy and Callaghan created in the 1970's (assisted by the unpleasant and dangerous Heath)and it is likely that the IMF will be dicating policy soon, I hope that the country makes the connection between what is affordable and sensible and reduces the political numbers and also removes this incompetent and misguided government.
Fewer at Westminster, less waste and more hard thinking.
