Our condolences
Fraser Nelson 10:07amThe tragic news of Ivan Cameron's death broke this morning, and all of us at The Spectator offer our deepest, heartfelt condolences to David and Samantha. It is impossible to imagine what they have come through so far, and what they are feeling now. It one of those moments where there is nothing more to say, apart from to offer our sympathy and prayers.

February 25th, 2009 7:55pm Report this commentIt is good to see that our parliamentarians recognise that there are matters more important than politics, and that this recognition was both expressed and acted upon in the House of Commons.
Tomorrow we can all return to the fray.
A day's contemplation will do each and every one of us a world of good.

February 25th, 2009 8:41pm Report this commentMy heart goes out to the family. My son died 4 years ago, and had like Ivan not an unexpected short life. It's hard to believe that you will ever be truly happy again but my message is that Ivan is only ever one single thought away & before long those wonderful, good & funny memories will help ease the terrible sadness.

February 25th, 2009 10:58pm Report this commentA child is a blessing
the perfection in the world
innocent and angelic
no evil yet unfurled.
all childhoods finish
just all in different ways
some endings we don't notice
some bring tears to our days
But the endings that bring tears
are perhaps not purely sad
for the life of one so innocent
will be celebrated when it's been had
an angel was born today and sits now beside our lord
looking down on you and blessing you
as you try to move forward.
So shed your tears but be sure to know
your blessed son Ivan
is free now and surely living the dreams you wished he'd know.
with my truest condolences xxx

February 26th, 2009 9:31am Report this commentWe offer our deepest sympathy to the Camerons for the loss of their precious son, such a loved child. The tragic news is having such a profound effect on us and makes us so aware that the people running our country, doing their best for us, are people with real hearts, real lives and families and when they suffer such devastating loss; our hearts go out to them as if they were the family living next door ... so we pray for them today.

February 27th, 2009 9:19pm Report this comment'Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORd pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass: as the flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over and it is gone: and the place thereof shal know it no more. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him and his righteousness unto children's children...'Psalm 103v13-17.
It is recorded of King David on the loss of his little child:'I SHALL GO TO HIM, but he shall not return to me.'(2Samuel 12v23)
'Be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake, hath forgiven you.' (Ephesians4v32)

August 22nd, 2009 5:31pm Report this commentthe death of my baby son forty years ago taught me that you don't loose your children when they die.You have them with you for ever.True, you loose their future, but they will never let you down, disappoint you or cause you stress. This is the very special gift that a child who dies too soon leaves behind.
