Krohn 2032?

Peter Hoskin 11:57am

I doubt even Rod Liddle was as precocious as this aged 13:

I watched 10 seconds of this, I couldnt watch the entire 3 minutes of this nauseating precocious brat. There is something definitely wrong with him. At that age you should be out riding a bike, climbing trees, reading comics, not talking to a bunch of 70 year old senators about the state of the economy.

Remember William Hague, a 12 year old fuddy duddy. He's never lived that down.

Oh dear. A political wonk for life, without ever actually having lived one- just what people need from someone who can identify with them!

Stop fretting Wilhelm, once his balls have dropped his mind will turn to more important matters; who knows - maybe one day he'll become really famous like Rod Lddle - writing about his early fumblings in the Spectator Magazine; or maybe National Review in his case?

What mean-spirited comments! What's wrong with feeling passionately about something at any age? Yes, he's precocious. So was Mozart.

He may grow up to be a bit of a bore. Or he may develop into a powerful orator and an agent for change. Who knows?

Wilhelm writes: “At that age you should be out riding a bike, climbing trees, reading comics…”

And yet, here in Britain, it is this very generation, ‘Labour born and Labour bred‘, who will be paying the price of socialistic Labour government for the rest of their lives. The misery and unhappiness many of them experience because of the mass fatherlessness and family breakdown incentivised by Labour. The multi-trillion pound government debt left to them by Labour. The dumbed-down education and worthless certificates they received from Labour. The overcrowded labour market that awaits them as a result of the mass immigration encouraged by Labour. The freedom of thought and speech they will never know because of Labour. The anger they will feel that their future has been stolen from them by Labour.

Life after Labour will indeed be tough for us all - but toughest for those who have never known anything else. Don’t expect them to be grateful.

Perhaps these young people, about to suffer for ‘the sins of the father’ need to be more political. They should certainly be more angry. They can spend their time “…out riding a bike, climbing trees, reading comics…” when they’re grown up. Thanks to 40-odd years of left-wing social engineering, many of them will have nothing else to do.

Wilhelm - I got as far as 'they didn't understand what they were talking about' - maybe 20 seconds.

I bet his parents are really proud!

If he had said something schmaltzy and wanted sympathy for being 13 I'd agree with the above posters but Goddammit the boy is bang on!

He dang well diagnosises what's wrong with the Republican Party and the Conservative Party. The former just failed to win an election in no small measure because McCain's own supporter base couldn't get excited about him owing to lack of principle and the latter are about to have a leader elected as Prime Minister purely because they are sick of the incumbent.

You're only going to get more than one term in power if your own supporters are excited about you. I like Cameron a lot but I know this is one of his key weaknesses. While Cam has sorted out the tone and the posture of the Conservative Party, he has yet to understand that too many Conservative principles are being junked. Conservatism's biggest enemy is the Aitkens and the Conways of this world. All the trips by George Osborne to California (as per Fraser Nelson's article in this week's issue) won't sort that out. It's just simple problems like that which threaten the principles of Conservatism.

Anyway, why do we have to wait to 2032? Get this boy running in 2012. What a superb advertisement for George Bush's America he is - literate, intelligent and a good public speaker. What an indictment of Britain's own disgusting, cesspit schools created by 12 years of stinking socialism.

He's great!

This is where the Conservative fightback begins: Jonathan Krohn and that wonderful new book: 'Liberal Fascism'.

Yes he's ghastly, but what about John Stuart Mill who started learning Greek at the age of three? And William Hague is a good egg, according to me. On the other hand the appalling Portillo was the Milky Bar Kid, was he not? And wasn't J.C. engaging in political debate at much the same age as this brat. Of course things didn't turn out so well for him.he should have stuck to his bike.

Meanwhile back on planet Earth.

To be honest, the content could have been given in front of a political audience of almost any colour.

But good luck to the lad.

Yes, Wilhelm, I have heard the expression ''children shouldn't be seen or heard'' and it might be apposite for the functionally illiterate generation of yobs Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have done so much to churn out with the academy zoos they have set up but not when a child is bright and intelligent.

There is no other country on earth that has such sheer spite and nastiness towards intelligent youngsters. Thank heaven's he's not in a British comprehensive where they'd kick the daylights out of him.

This boy reminds me of a terrible show that was on CBBC recently called 'Election', I think, in which they had a series of kids doing a Pop Idol thing, which was very silly and none of the kids really seemed to know what they were doing. This boy, though, is the real McCoy.

He can be grateful he's in America where he won't be sneered at, unlike Britain's Gail Trimble.

There seems to be a lot of playing the man and not the ball here. If you'd read his speech without knowing who'd given it, what would you think of the words?

Wilhelm, the expression is "children should be seen and not heard".

Oh my god! They've managed to create a clone of George W. Bush with a functioning speech centre! That probably explains where all the money went to create the huge budget deficit.

Addressing his actual "points" what exactly is new here? Bush et al. have made these same points before, as have previous conservatives throughout the past centuries. He describes the importance of conservatism, yet denies support for the Republicans who are the only party that professes adherence to these ideals. Which party does he support then? He talks about smaller government and respect for individuals as the cornerstones of conservatism and yet these very same values were completely disregarded, and outright purposefully torn apart by successive American administrations which claimed to be conservative. And apparently, conservatism is based on freedom, rights, etc. is it? Then I suppose liberals don't believe in such values? "Liberal" itself means free. Ridiculous.

What a self-righteous twerp. I suggest he gets a basic education rather than acting like a 50 year old man. Negligence doesn't even begin to describe his parents' failings. He should live a life before coming out with political nonsense. This is just a politician version of the 13-year old pregnancy story we had in the UK.

What a range of comments. First off, this is nothing new both parties are equally guilty of exploiting youth. A few years ago the Democrats had some girl talk at a convention and she made a joke about some Republican using bad language that she wasn't allowed to use at home. Ha Ha it's all great...blah, blah. Second, what kind of 13 year old writes a book? What kind of credibility does he have? It truly is a sad day when the Republicans have to turn to a kid and not their own party for inspiration.

Wow, just read an article about this kid in the new york times. What sick parents would raise a kid this way? Don't they realize that this kid is going to turn out seriously messed up? What a pretentious prick. Im not even talking about his view points, Im talking about the way in which overly protective, obsessed, stage parents rear their children up to become childhood-less confused old men (or women). And I think that if he's going to argue politics with politicians and to politicians, he shouldn't get a free pass just because he is a kid. His arguments are mediocre at best, and he fails to back them up at all. I'm also 14, we're the same age, and one of my good friends was in a play with him. I don't see how anybody could actually this this kid is anything more than pretentious with strong beliefs, obsessive parents, and a decent public speaking ability.
