Lynton Crosby burns his bridges with the Tories
James Forsyth 8:18pm
Over at Conservative Home, Jonathan Isaby has the scoop that Lynton Crosby—who managed both the Tory 2005 general election campaign and Boris’s mayoral run—will run the Libertas campaign in the European elections. This puts him in direct opposition to the Conservative party.
Many in Westminster expected that Crosby would return in 2010 to perform the same service for the Tories that he had in 2005. Some Tory insiders felt that Crosby’s experience was just what the party would need for the campaign. But after he worked directly against it, it is very hard to see how he could return to the fold.

Did the conservative party speak to him about the EU campaign?
If the Tories do not use him for the general election, perhaps another party will snap him up? The BNP, or even the Lib Dems! Now that would be damaging for the tories.
He will be able to bring many conservative party supporters towards Libertas. Libertas believes and is standing on those beliefs that 55% and more of this country believe in!
This is good news for those, like me, who want do not like the way the EU is going and the fact that not one of the three Westminster Parties or Nationalist Parties can offer any form of opposition to the EU.
Cameron has failed to answer the very question that needs to be answered. WHAT will he do if the Lisbon Treaty is ratified?
Until Cameron himself gives a clear unequivical answer to this question, acknowledging that a great majority of this country do not want the EU, in its present state, he will not get the support, in the EU elections, he may wish for!
But should the Conservatives now decide to remove Crosby from their Christmas Card list..it will be another party's gain!

Anyway, that's Libertas doomed!

March 19th, 2009 9:46pm Report this commentI seem to remember the Tories losing the 2005 election campaign.
Libertas, like UKIP is a dusbin. Throw yourself in it if you want Strap. But be prepared for Labour to still be around to tip you onto the heap.

I don'tcare whohe has worked for in the past.Anyway,I don't vote Tory in Euro electons. Dueto the iniquitou list system you never know who you are going to get. I voted UKIP last time - they're loonies of course but they're anti-Europe loonies.

March 20th, 2009 9:55am Report this commentSo another neocon joins a euroskeptic organisation to break up the EU.
Hmmm funny that anyone would think the neocons want europe to be weak and pliable to manipulation from stronger powers.
Great leaders like Eisenhower and Churchill would tell these geopolitical pygmies where to shove it. They supported integration.
Does anyone find it odd that Crosby a foreign Australian is complaining about the EU having too much influence over the UK. Maybe should bring back the british empire and invade India eh Crosby.
Hey why doesn't crosby campaign for australia to have their own head of state who is elected Nahhh, he should stick his nose in areas he has no business too.
Why do nationalist groups often get run by foreigners?

March 20th, 2009 11:44am Report this commentI really don't see what the big story is here (also on Political Betting).
His 'masterminding' helped the Conservatives to win only 197 (?) seats at the last GE ... I was expecting around 220 seats.

I did not say I would vote for Libertas. I was making the point, lost on you, that Mr Crosby is a free agent, he has a living to make and if someone wants to hire him so be it.
The article suggested that the Tories would bin Mr Crosby. Perhaps they will, but they will have lost a good man.
Unlike you Mr T D I do not look at the tories through rose tinted spectacles. Unlike you I do not wish to be a slave to the EUSSR.
I will not be voting Tory in the EU elections and who I vote for is for me and my conscience!
