Another poll with a big Tory lead
James Forsyth 6:06pm
The latest IPSOS-MORI poll has the Tories nine ahead, with Labour down three to 32. Although, the Tory lead is considerable this poll will not send Labour into a tailspin. As long as the party is above 30 and the Tory lead is less than 15, Labour MPs will not start thinking the unthinkable.

November 30th, 2007 6:32pmLabour MPs have plenty to worry about. When even RTE One is running the scandal as a big story, it could be one to run and run. Like the Tory sleaze scandals of the 90s, the damaging element could not be the content of the allegation, but the constant repetition of it. For my part, I don't know how many more visits from Plod this Government can take and still try, with any hope of succeeding, to pass itself off as honest.

November 30th, 2007 6:39pmI agree, but we don't want them in a tailspin, because then they might ditch their unelectable leader and chose somebody more competent. OK, they aren't exactly drowning in talent, but I think it's better the devil we know ...

November 30th, 2007 6:41pmYes, but what POLITICAL difference would a Tory victory make? There is none. And that will be the question, and the answer, that really matter over the next year and a half. Anyway, the Tories are now so confined to the South East and East Anglia that it has no more chance of removing the Government than has, say, the SNP, or Plaid Cymru, or any of the parties peculiar to Northern Ireland. In which case, with no Tory bogeyman that really exists, what is the point of the Labour Party? Is nobody interested in POLITICS any more?

December 12th, 2007 12:30amI think the problem with either the Tories or what you can now call old Labour is that they are as sleazy and as ineffectual as each other. I would no more bother to react to anything coming out of Cameron's mouth than the drivel the Labour Party peddle. If I had my way I'd round the lot of them up and drop them in the middle of the Atlantic. Further I'd put real people in charge of this country who actually were good at the jobs and the dept's they were in charge of and not a load of professional jobs for the boys politicans, greasy handed money grabbers, whose sole aim is the ruination of this country through lack of common sense, limited intellect, to much overseas pandering, pathelogical lying, degenerate behavior and excuses and short-termism.
