Spot the spoiled ones

Matthew d'Ancona 5:30pm

Amanda Platell, a must-read columnist as well as a hugely experienced former editor and political adviser, hits the nail on the head today with her piece on New Labour's 'trustafarians'. She applies the term to the privileged younger generation of Government ministers who have never had to struggle in Opposition or fight for the privilege of office. It's spot on: a label that deserves to enter the political lexicon.

So you congratulate her for stealing a term that has been applied to the privileged young of Notting Hill for decades and not even crediting it as unoriginal?

Surely, the real trustafarians are David Cameron and George Osborne who have "never had to struggle" with bills, taxes and mortgages like the rest of us.

Dear Jeffrey Randall - after 10 years of over-taxation by this ghastly Labour Government there are so many millions more of us struggling to pay the bills !!!

hmmm. Platell an expert on Labour? News to me. And as some have already pointed out, Dave Cameron has stuffed his Shadow Cabinet with Trustafarians who live around the corner from him in Notting Hill, sorry, Norf Kensington. Who's the next expert on the Labour Cabinet - Simon Heffer?

The only thing that looks spoilt in this picture is the seat of the trousers of the men in front row. Was that incontinence or incompetence?

'trustafarian' is a very inappropriate name - since when did anyone trust this form of the Political Classes? 'parasite' seems more suitable.
