What Gordon needs for Christmas

Fraser Nelson 11:36am

On Marr, David Cameron rightly said that the question on funding is "Who Knew?" This is also the title of a song last year by Pink which has been irritatingly replaying in my head since this all erupted. For my News of the World column (not online), I put this down as one of the tracks you could put on a Christmas CD to cheer up Gordon Brown. Here are the rest. Two CDs, of course, would really make his day. So can CoffeeHousers think of any extra tracks?

1)     Who Knew? (Pink)
2)     How Long Has This Been Going On? (Ace)
3)     Watching the Detectives (Elvis Costello)
4)     I wouldn’t normally do this kind of thing (Pet Shop Boys)
5)     Nothing has been proved (Dusty Springfield)
6)     Panic (The Smiths)
7)     Smile Though Your Heart Is Aching (Nat King Cole)
8)     Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away (Beatles)
9)     Didn’t We Almost Have It All (Whitney Houston)
10) Always Look on the Bright Side of Life (Monty Python)

I thought Pink's song was appropriate this week, but even better is Fleetwood Mac's Little Lies which says it all!

More Gershwin for various members of the Cabinet: "Nice work if you can get it" (Des Browne) "Lady be good" (Harriet Harman) "I got plenty o nothin" (G. Brown) and of course for the voters: "Let's call the whole thing off"

He's a loser (The Beatles); He's a Real Nowhere Man (The Beatles); He's Mr Know it All. Tony Blair would have been He's So Vain (Carly Simon). But I'm glad someone remembers Father Abraham

"Testify", Rage Against the Machine, "Money Bought", Nickelback, "Megalomaniac", Incubus. Maybe Mr. Brown can find one himself the next time he listens to the 'Arctic Monkeys' on his 'iPod'
