ABC call New Hampshire for Obama

James Forsyth 1:28am

The big question now is the margin. If it is less than five the Clintons will spin a comeback narrative, if it is double digits for Obama then the meltdown storyline will continue.

UPDATE: Bad info, sorry. Hillary Clinton pulled off a remarkable comeback victory which I'll try and explain in a minute.

Doesn't it make anyone question the merits of TV networks 'calling' the election at all? They have their own agendas and their own favourite candidates; speed v. accuracy is also always a factor in their planning. You might say, I would, that it's a pity it would be unconstitutional (First Amendment, otherwise it's a rather good piece of writing) to outlaw news media 'calling' an election for anybody. Wait till the returning officer, or whatever they call him over there, announces "the total number of votes cast was as follows etc.
